How it works
The formulas behind the numbers
Every Pokemon has three hidden Individual Values — Attack, Defense and HP — each an integer from 0 to 15. Since the appraisal update the game shows them directly as the three bars on the appraisal screen. They are added to the species base stats before the CP multiplier for the level is applied.
CPM is a fixed table value that grows with level, from 0.094 at level 1 to 0.8403 at level 50. Once the three IVs are known, only one level (occasionally two neighbouring half levels) produces a given CP, which is how the checker finds it. The IV percentage is simply the three values added together out of 45.
The base stats and the CP multiplier table used here come from the same Game Master data that powers the rest of this site.
FAQ
Where do I find Attack, Defense and HP?
Open the Pokemon in your storage, tap the menu and choose Appraise. Your team leader shows three bars, Attack, Defense and HP, each from 0 to 15 segments. A full bar is 15. Enter those three numbers here together with the CP shown on the summary screen.
What is a 100% / hundo?
A Pokemon with 15 Attack, 15 Defense and 15 HP — three full bars, shown in game as a 4-star appraisal. It is the highest raw stat total a species can have, which is what most raid and Master League attackers want.
Why does it say no level matches?
Because CP is computed from the exact IVs and level, a wrong bar reading makes the CP impossible. Re-check the three bars (a bar one segment short of full is 14, not 15) and the CP, and remember that a Pokemon that was just powered up may show a CP from the new level.
Do IVs matter for PvP?
In Great League and Ultra League a CP cap applies, so a lower Attack IV lets a Pokemon reach a higher level within the same cap and end up with more Defense and HP. That is why the best PvP spreads are usually low Attack with high Defense and HP, not 15/15/15. In Master League and in raids, where nothing is capped, higher is simply better.
