How the fight goes and what to bring.
Rayquaza is Dragon/Flying, so it's weak to Ice (4x when you factor the double weakness path via Ice), Dragon, Rock, and Fairy. Mamoswine, Galarian Darmanitan, Ice attackers, and other Dragons melt it — bring Ice first. The double weakness to Ice makes this one of the easier legendary duos for prepared trainers. Its Mega form buffs every Dragon and Flying attacker in the lobby, so building Rayquaza pays off twice: as a top-tier attacker and as a team booster. The shiny is one of the most sought-after in the game. This is a build-two-minimum situation for any serious roster.
Do not bring Grass, Ground, Bug damage — Rayquaza resists it and your lobby will run out of time before it runs out of HP. Everything in the counter list above already hits for super effective damage, so pick the six highest entries you actually own and power up.
In Windy weather the boss hits harder and survives longer, but the catch encounter is level 25 instead of 20 — a harder fight for a better reward. Bring one extra trainer on boosted runs.
