The top Electric attackers are Xurkitree, Mega Manectric, Therian Thundurus, Zekrom, and Shadow Raikou, with Mega Ampharos, Mega Sceptile (Grass), and Shadow Magnezone trailing. Xurkitree with Thunder Shock and Discharge is the highest non-Mega DPS Electric attacker thanks to its raw 330 Attack stat. Mega Manectric remains an excellent budget Mega thanks to one of the cheapest Mega Energy costs and high attack. Therian Thundurus with Volt Switch and Thunderbolt is the long-standing benchmark legendary Electric attacker. Magnezone, Electivire, Luxray, Heliolisk, and Ampharos round out the budget tier.
Electric types thrive in the open Great and Ultra League formats, especially against Water-heavy lineups. Lanturn (Water/Electric) brings unique double-resistance to Electric moves and is a budget Great League staple. Magnezone (Electric/Steel) sees consistent Master League play. Zekrom and Therian Thundurus dominate Master League with Wild Charge spam and high Attack stats. Galvantula, Stunfisk (Galarian Steel/Ground), and Eelektross flex into limited-cup formats. In specialty cups like Element Cup, Wattrel, Pikachu Libre, and Pichu sometimes appear. Electric types are limited by their predictable Ground weakness, which Steel-Ground and Water-Ground duals exploit ruthlessly.
Electric attackers shine against Water (Kyogre, Swampert, Gyarados) and Flying (Rayquaza, Lugia, Yveltal). They are 1.6× weak to Ground only — and 2.56× when paired with weather boost. The cleanest defensive profile in the game makes Electric raids low-risk and high-DPS. Rainy weather boosts Electric moves by 1.2×, and conveniently Rainy is also the meta window for Water raids — giving Electric trainers a perfect counter weather. Avoid Electric attackers against Excadrill, Garchomp, Groudon, and Therian Landorus, since these Ground-types one-shot Electric attackers. Electric is also strong against Steel/Flying duals like Skarmory and Celesteela.
Electric Community Days have included Mareep → Ampharos with Dragon Pulse, Electrike → Manectric with Wild Charge, Joltik → Galvantula, Tynamo → Eelektross, Helioptile → Heliolisk, Pikachu (multiple iterations including Surfing Pikachu and Flying Pikachu), and Pawmi → Pawmot. Magnemite Community Day Classic returned in 2025 unlocking Mirror Shot. Zekrom Raid Days have unlocked Fusion Bolt and Outrage. Mega Ampharos and Mega Manectric are the two main Electric Mega rotation picks; Mega Ampharos doubles as a Dragon attacker. Zapdos retains a niche through Galarian Zapdos (Fighting/Flying) from Daily Adventure Incense, although the original Kanto bird remains the easier 5-Star raid to grind for XL candy.
